James Webb brings an added dimension to the Crone and Mason litigation team. Having earned a Master’s degree in English and having taught various Freshman English courses at LSU and the University of Memphis before deciding to pursue a law degree, Mr. Webb has had unique opportunities to develop his research and writing skills, as well his ability to speak effectively in pressure situations. These skills enabled him to excel in law school, helping him to garner several awards in the areas of moot court and trial advocacy and helping him to become a Notes Editor on the University of Memphis Law Review.

These skills continued to serve Mr. Webb well after law school, when he became a law clerk for the Honorable Holly K. Lillard of the Tennessee Court of Appeals. While clerking for Judge Lillard, Mr. Webb continued to sharpen his writing and research skills and experienced first-hand the inner workings of the appellate process. He was exposed to a wide range of civil cases, including various employment-related litigation.

James Webb went straight from clerking for the Court of Appeals to the firm of Crone & Mason, where he has become an integral member of the litigation team. He has been involved in a variety of very complex civil cases, from protecting clients from violations of due process to class actions. In the area of employment law, he has been involved in cases ranging from the protection of a union member’s right to fair representation to a handicapped person’s suit for constructive discharge. When a sticky legal problem rears its head, Mr. Webb brings his formidable research skills to bear in finding the solution. When legal memoranda need to be written for the Court, Mr. Webb, because of his background, experience, and outstanding ability, is the go-to member of the Crone & Mason employment discrimination team.
